Yes, that's right...Allen is walking!!

My big birthday boy turned ONE on Saturday and he took his first official three steps last night! Peter got to see him do a few more tonight, but he was at a meeting last night so he missed the first ones. Ya snooze, ya lose. I'm not quite done with his ONE YEAR photo shoot, so that plus birthday pics are going to be a bit, yet. Until then...
Allen had his first hair cut last night! He was getting the beginnings of a mullet so after bath time I had to intervene. He actually held kind of still for my scissoring, but it wasn't a perfect job.

After I knocked off some inches from Allen's head, I pulled Katy into my lap and did the same for her. She has been steadily losing her hair since her eye surgery in January, and only a few ringlets were left. I hated to do it, though. Bye bye, length.

Once I finished, I put both their hair clippings on a white towel and was amazed how similar the colors were. I mean, I thought Allen was blonde! And they had about the same amount of hair taken off, too. Crazy.

Yesterday was also Allen's one year dr. appointment and he weighed in at 23 lb. 11 oz. He's been about the same weight for several months now, but has been growing more lengthwise. He only cried a teeny bit when he had to get his shots. Katy was very protective of him, and rude to the nurse! You go, sista!
And on Monday I was the photographer for Katy's dance class pictures. I had a lot of favorites! Several gals were absent but the four girls who showed TOTALLY owned that photo shoot! Mom said some of them look like saloon girls. HA!

And finally, Katy has been asking for a 'cool bus ride from her cousin Jacob. He called today and really came through for her with a huge favor. Around 4pm Jake pulled up in front of our house with the big yellow bus. Katy was absolutely BESIDE herself with joy! It was so cute! She couldn't get her Dora shoes on fast enough! Allen looked nonplussed. Hillary drove up and the five of us (plus Katy's giraffe) had an illegal, illicit and fabulously fun ride around the neighborhood. Jake accelerated for all the road dips and we loved every minute! Cousins are just grand!
