Today I am sharing a Life Lesson: Please don't be afraid to accept help when it's offered! I went to my monthly Ladies Luncheon (don't laugh...it's not High Society) and of course, had the Nugget with me. I was carrying a sandwich in a little basket, my diaper bag, Katy's baby doll and my soda. Katy was clinging to my pants and forcing me to take baby steps. A stranger approached and offered to help me. My immediate thought was if she picked Katy up, a tantrum would ensue. No question about that. Anyone spent time with her lately? So you've noticed that? Anyway, I turned the nice lady down and inched my way along to the table with the false confidence of a first-time mother in a foo-foo eatery. Everything is going great until I noticed there were steps leading up to our table. No problem! Just set your soda (no lid because I didn't have enough hands for frivolous things) into your sandwich basket and scoop up Katy with one arm. IMMEDIATELY there was soda EVERYWHERE! The confidence poured out of me like the Dr. Pepper tripping from the sandwich in my basket. I knew the nice stranger had to have seen me fail in my supermom attempt. Some other nice strangers jumped up and threw napkins on the floor and on me. It made enough commotion that my friends noticed and came to the rescue. The good news is that I did finish lunch early enough to go home and change before my dental appointment. No sense advertising your failure, right? It is the Catholic in me which must confess all!! Please, learn from my failure!! **Really I am a great person to have this happen to because wearing a white shirt with a HUGE brown stain on it through lunch didn't even bother me. It was a little bit cold.**

Following the lunch I suffered through a cavity filling with the nerves only partially deadened. Every time I get dental work done, it seems like something comes up. A root canal took 3.75 hours! A cavity always seems to need just "a little more" drilling when it was originally described as just a small surface problem. Today the cavity was between my molar and my incisor (I think) and so it was described as a very quick and simple procedure. Halfway through the drilling I told the dentist that he was occasionally hitting a spot that was not completely deadened. He continued and applied the composite material, built the tooth back up, sanded everything down and then said, "I'm not pleased with that." While I can appreciate perfection, couldn't you give me just one more injection of numbing stuff? No, apparently not. I sat through it for a second time. An hour and a half later, I walked out of the dentist with a VERY firm resolve to floss, and to floss often.

Blah, blah, blah...you were hoping for photos, weren't you? If you are still mad that I'm a stay at home mom, and you're picturing me living the lifestyle of the rich and famous, just know that tomorrow night and early Saturday I will be cleaning for Peter's old janitorial company. That's right. I do toilets. And windows. Just not my own windows so don't look too closely next time you're here.

I can't forget to thank Peter's parents for the extended babysitting they did today while I was trapped in my favorite dental chair. And Mom brought dinner over last night which is ALWAYS lovely! Here's a shout out to Laura, Sarah and Amy: if you would just move back to town, you could enjoy Mom's catering, too!

I tried to add a photo but Blogger wouldn't let me tonight. I'll try again tomorrow.
